How to Add the Most Recent US heatrisk information?

This documentation is always evolving.

With Mapcreator, you can create a map with the latest US heatrisk data from NOAA National Weather Service. Every 60 minutes, this layer is refreshed with the latest information from NOAA NWS, both in the tool and in any interactive output you create.

Where to Find It
The "US heatrisk" live data layer can be found under the "Data overlay" menu. This is located under the fourth icon in the top left menu, where "Live Data" will be at the top.

61-1

After selecting the "US heatrisk" layer, it will automatically appear on your map. In the "Layers" menu, you can control the data displayed. Here, you can enable or hide specific degrees of risk.

61-2

This layer includes five degrees:

0 -  Little to no risk: (light green)
1 - Minor: level of heat affects primarily those individuals extremely sensitive to heat, especially when outdoors without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration (yellow)
2 - Moderate: level of heat affects most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts possible in some health systems and in heat-sensitive industries (orange)
3 - Major: level of heat affects anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts likely in some health systems, heat-sensitive industries and infrastructure (red)
4 - Extreme: level of rare and/or long-duration extreme heat with little to no overnight relief affects anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts likely in most health systems, heat-sensitive industries and infrastructure (purple)

On default, the tool will select the heatrisk for the current date, but in the ‘’Layers’’ menu, you can also select future dates up to 6 days in advance.

How to Get This Map Updated
If you'd like to show this project as an interactive map on your website, we recommend downloading the map as an iframe. Interactive maps will then automatically update every hour. Please note that interactive maps are not currently supported in the Next Mapcreator but can be created in the old version of Mapcreator.

What About Static Maps?
The data in the tool is always up to date. If you reopen an existing project, it will automatically reflect the latest data. Simply download the updated map, and you’re ready to share it.
