How can I create a flight map?

This documentation is always evolving.

This article focuses on Mapcreator Next and its features. For details about the previous version of Mapcreator, click here.

There are various methods to create a flight map: you can draw the flight projection manually or you can enter the addresses and let the Mapcreator create the line for you.

To start, select the line option from the side menu on the top left.

Method 1: Path calculated from the manually selected points on the map.

You can let the tool generate a line between locations by manually selecting points. These are created by clicking in various areas on the map to draw a line. To finish creating your line, click again on the last added anchor point. When you click again on the created line, a dotted help line will appear. By clicking and dragging the dots, you will be able to manipulate how your line curves.

Method 2:
Flight path automatically calculated from the addresses/coordinates you enter.

After selecting the ‘’line’’ function, a pop-up will appear on the top right. In the search field you can enter the starting point address/coordinates. Confirm your point by clicking on the location from the search results and type a new location for your second point, and so on. Click anywhere on the map to end your flightline.

For both methods, flight path can be fully styled: you can use the styling menu to edit the color, thickness and change it to the dashed or dotted line, and use the slider for rounded corners.

Tip: After your flight route is finalized, you can drag the order of your locations added by clicking down on the two horizontal lines next to the locations and moving the element up or down. If you want to clarify that it is a flight map, an icon of an airplane can be added following along the line.
