You can now export your icons as After Effects-ready null objects to make your post-production video editing easier. If you're a regular in taking map animations to the next level, this one is for you.
You might want to import your Mapcreator map animation into After Effects to continue your map editing in your everyday design tool. This just got a lot easier!
Here's how to take your editing to the next level:
Prepare your map animation as usual. Add your annotations like markers and icons, and head over to the Export menu.
Activate the checkbox "Export tracking data" 👇 and continue to export your map.
Besides the video, you’ll get a ZIP archive with your icons and a helper script for Adobe After Effects.
To run a script file in After Effects, click on File > Scripts > Run Script File > and choose the .jsx file you just downloaded from Mapcreator.
You'll see that in your Composition, the layer is automatically connected with the respective null-layer. A step you'd otherwise have to do manually 🌀 is automatically taken care of for you.
Note that the video itself won’t display the icons, but the script allows After Effects to place them on top of the footage in the correct spots, so you can move, resize, or replace them as part of your editing.
At the moment, this feature only works with icons, not labels nor any other annotations.
