How can I highlight one or multiple areas?

This documentation is always evolving.

This article focuses on Mapcreator Next and its features. For details about the previous version of Mapcreator, click here.

Mapcreator provides an extensive database of administrative and geographic areas that can be accessed within a few clicks. From the menu on the top left, select ‘’Areas’’. Now, you have the decision between single and grouped areas.

  • ‘’Single areas’’ refer to one single area, think of a municipality, country, city, region and so on.

  • ‘’Grouped areas’’ refer to area groups, such as all the countries in Europe, states in the US or districts in Germany and so on.

Decide if you need a single or grouped area. Now, use the search field to enter what location you want your area to be added. Click on the correct option from Mapcreators’ suggestions and it will automatically appear on the map.

Click on the area added to the map for the styling pop-up to appear and change the stroke, fill and pattern.

If you have added a group of areas, a single click will select the specifically clicked element while a double click will select the whole group to change the styling.

To color all countries on the map, select ‘’world’’ from grouped areas. Double click on any of the areas and change the styling of all countries at once with the ‘’color all’’ feature.
