Mapcreator maps are so versatile. From static to interactive and even video maps, everything can be created using the browser-based online editor.
But what if you already have your tools in place and you only need high-quality maps? We’ve got you covered too.
We’re aware that production tools are well embedded in our users’ workflows. While we don’t aim to copy the functionalities of these tools, we’d rather make it easier for our maps to be integrated.
GEOlayers for After Effects is one of those tools. If you know how to work with After Effects and if you have an active GEOlayers license, this short article is for you. If you prefer to work with our multi-layered SVGs in AE instead, we recommend checking out our very own Adobe Extensions here.
To get Mapcreator’s tiles inside GEOlayers, you’ll need a custom Json file. Contact your Support Team to receive your styled Json file, including an access token.
Once you have that Mapcreator Json file, let’s get to work by following these simple steps:
- Add a New Map Source:
- In the GEOlayers 3 panel, click on the "Manage Mapstyles" button (it looks like a globe icon in the GEOlayers toolbar).
- This will open the Mapstyles dialog.
- Import Your Custom Styled JSON:
- In the Mapstyles window, click on the + button to add a new map source.
- Choose "Add Style from JSON".
- Navigate to your Mapcreator Json file and select it.
- Select and Apply Your Custom Style:
- Once the Json file is loaded, you’ll see your new map style listed among the available styles.
- Select the new style, and click Apply to set it as your base map.
Now, you can use the custom-styled Mapcreator map as the base map for your project. Add map layers, markers, paths, or animations on top of this styled base map within GEOlayers.
